What equipment do you use?
We sharpen knives on a water wheel, at a precise angle, which produces a very slightly concaved bevel. The bevel is further refined using a 2-grit polishing process which produces a smooth, razor sharp cutting edge.
Can you sharpen bread knives and serrated knives?
Yes we can, although they require sharpening much less often than a straight bladed knife. Each type of serration requires a different process, but the end results are the same. Note: Sharpening a serrated knife will very slightly wear away the tips of the serrations.
Can you fix a broken tip?
Yes, we can, although our method is a trade secret! There may be a small charge for restoration if the break is quite pronounced, but once it’s fixed, you would never know there had been anything wrong with it.
How long does it take?
A straight forward sharpen on a knife in good condition will a few minutes. However, more time will be necessary if remedial work is required where the knife is worn or damaged in some way.
